the Common Language Collective
The most important way to become a skilled Digital Storytelling facilitator is to work with skilled Digital Storytelling facilitators. The way they speak. The way they act. How they navigate the ethical issues that arise. The way they coach, encourage, challenge, and support the storytellers they work with. All of these things can be hard to understand and learn without seeing it in action. This is the Common Language Digital Storytelling advantage: not only can you take training courses to give you the basic understanding and facilitation skills you need, you can become part of a community of practice of Digital Storytelling facilitators and be mentored by others.

Three Levels of Facilitator Certifications
Level 1
Description: This facilitator certification is perfect for all types of professionals who want to incorporate Digital Storytelling into their work when working with people in a one-to-one setting.
Ideal Candidates: Health Researchers, Mental Health Professionals, Non-profit Program Managers, etc.
Requirements: 1) Attend at least 3 continuing education courses per year and 6 mentorship calls. 2) Facilitate at least 15 Digital Stories per year. 3) Submit 3 Digital Stories for discussion in mentorship calls per year.
Annual Cost: $530/yr (approx. $1800 value)
Level 2
Description: This facilitator certification is perfect for all types of professionals who want to incorporate Digital Storytelling into their work with groups of participants. Level 2 facilitators are also able to co-facilitate group workshops through the Common Language affiliate network and receive additional mentorship opportunities
Ideal Candidates: Health Researchers, Mental Health Professionals, Non-profit Program Managers, etc.
Requirements: 1) Attend at least 3 continuing education courses per year and 6 mentorship calls. 2) Facilitate at least 2 group Digital Storytelling workshops per year and 15 stories. 3) Submit 3 Digital Stories for discussion in mentorship calls per year.
Annual Cost: $860/yr (approx. $2200 value)
Level 3
Description: This facilitator certification is for facilitators who aim to have Digital Storytelling as their main part of their career. Having this certification level allows participants to offer Common Language training workshops as a professional affiliate in their geographic area.
Ideal Candidates: Experienced Digital Storytelling facilitators looking for the benefits of belonging to an organization, but are looking to set their own schedule and projects.
Requirements: 1) Attend all yearly continuing education courses and facilitate one course on a topic of their choosing. 2) Continue to facilitate more than 5 group Digital Storytelling workshops per year. 3) Act as the primary mentor the facilitators they train through their courses.
Annual Cost: $1200/yr (approx. $2600 value)
