The most important way to become a skilled Digital Storytelling facilitator is to work with skilled Digital Storytelling facilitators. The way they speak. The way they act. How they navigate the ethical issues that arise. The way they coach, encourage, challenge, and support the storytellers they work with. All of these things can be hard to understand and learn without seeing it in action. This is the Common Language Digital Storytelling advantage: not only can you take training courses to give you the basic understanding and facilitation skills you need, you can become part of a community of practice of Digital Storytelling facilitators and be mentored by others.

Continue to have access to WeVideo and all the royalty-free stock images/video/music so that you can keep making stories, as well as access to all the videos, resources, and materials in the Members Area of the CLDST Website.

Best-Fit: CLDST Trained Facilitators who co-create many stories each year, with multiple stories in process at the same time, and/or plan to make DST Facilitation a core activity of their current/future work.
How This will Benefit You: In addition to connecting with the CLDST Community and keeping your skills sharp, you will have access to 1-to-1 coaching and support with an internationally recognized DST Facilitator, Dr. Mike Lang and have the infrastructure to pursue a more active DST Facilitation practice. In addition, many CLDST Trained Facilitators with Pro Memberships work together on submitting grants, co-facilitating workshops, and sometimes refer work to each other. A PRO memberships will open up more opportunities for DST Facilitators who are hoping to make it a more active part of their work.

How This will Benefit You: DST Facilitation Training is just the start of building your DST Practice. No matter the training course, it is hard to teach how to handle the practical realities of DST Project Planning and Facilitation. Successful DST Facilitators need opportunities to learn from the candid real-world experiences of their peers and, no matter where you were trained, we believe that you will benefit from connecting with the CLDST Collective at our monthly community of Practice meetings.
